About

Bio

Dr. Tessa Elliott has been a physical therapist for over four years, during which time she has treated patients with orthopedic, neurologic, and pelvic floor impairments. Now she primarily treats pelvic floor and women’s health disorders. Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Dr. Elliott worked in public health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While working there she became interested in physical therapy as a way to continue addressing health issues but with more emphasis on the needs of individuals through personal and one-on-one care. Dr. Elliott loves her work as a PT for many reasons. Physical therapy allows her the opportunity to utilize many different healing techniques, particularly hands on manual therapy, movement and postural adjustments, behavior and lifestyle interventions, breath and body awareness training, biofeedback, and multiple forms of exercise. Dr. Elliott’s approach is patient-centered with a focus on empowering individuals to heal their own bodies and live and move in a way that promotes wellness. Dr. Elliott’s education includes a BS from Rice University, an MPH from Emory University, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Armstrong Atlantic State University (now Georgia Southern University). She has also completed extensive post-graduate training in both manual therapy and in pelvic/women’s health. She is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) and has a Certificate of Achievement in Pregnancy/Postpartum Physical Therapy (CAPP-OB) through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She also occasionally assists in teaching women’s health courses in the Atlanta area.
