My name is Lindsey Shipley, and I am an RN, Childbirth Educator, and IBCLC-certified Lactation Coach. Why did I start Lactation Link? I had great experiences breastfeeding my two kids. I had been a labor and delivery RN for 5 years when I saw a huge need for more quality prenatal breastfeeding education and postpartum breastfeeding support. I wanted to create breastfeeding education that was not only reliable and research-based, but also easily accessible. We’ve done that with the video breastfeeding classes on lactationlink.wpengine.com! I feel that prenatal education should be more about smart and practical options, rather than lists of “dos” and “don’ts”. I believe that there’s not a one-size-fits-all way to being a great Mom. We all have different strengths, backgrounds, resources, and opinions. We may not all share the same political party, church group, or vision of what a family means. But we can all agree on one thing: We could all use a friend, a smile, a hug, a few words of encouragement, and a “You’re doing a great job”. We all need more people rooting for our success. That’s why my mission statement is “Creating Confident Moms” – empowering women with education and options and supporting them in reaching their goals, whatever they may be.
