With a background in mother to mother support for breastfeeding, Board Certified as a lactation consultant since 1986, I set up the first lactation private practice in Queens, New York in 1986.. I founded the lactation program at Magee Womens Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA in 1991 and lactation consulting practices in Manhattan and now in Riverdale, the Bronx, NYC. I have been active in professional groups, am a past president of the New York Lactation Consultant Association and past Vice President and Director for External Affairs to the International Lactation Consultant Association. I am an active member and founder of UNBAT - the United Nations Breastfeeding Advocacy Team and represent ILCA at the UN. My goal is optimal infant and maternal health through effective assistance and support for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Specialties: Breastfeeding difficulties including: difficulties latching onto the breast, premies, multiples (twins or more), slow weight gain, low milk production, prevention and treatment of nipple pain and breast infections, return to work, adjustment to life with a nursing baby.
