How can the art of breastfeeding be difficult, even painful, when it should come naturally? After all, it is the biologically normal way to feed a child. This question sparked René's interest in breastfeeding with the arrival of her first baby born in 1996, and with the quick realization of how challenging it can be, she then began her volunteer work. "I wanted to help other mothers avoid breastfeeding difficulties and to enjoy the precious early days with their newborn babies." Soon after the birth of her second baby, she began working toward becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). While raising her daughters, she completed her certification in 2011. Upon realizing both of her babies' struggles were related to tongue ties, she delved into this still controversial area of study. "I found that my own childhood speech impediment, dental and orthodontic issues were also related to my own tongue’s disadvantages."

René wishes to help provide a mutually pleasant and successful breastfeeding experience for mother and baby. During the mothering journey, most will seek assistance and reassurance. She works very closely with families to ensure that all personal breastfeeding expectations are met using the most recent medical information and years of experience and education. There is much more to breastfeeding than just nutrition. René believes that nursing your baby is the very beginning of a well-connected family and enjoys providing insight and resolution for struggling families with encouragement that challenges will soon be overcome and breastfeeding can truly be enjoyed.
