My own pregnancies, births, and postpartum experiences have certainly shaped my practice as a doula. Primarily, these experiences reawakened my deeply held belief that the female body does not get enough credit in today's modern world for being MORE THAN ENOUGH for just about anything. This, coupled with my scientific background and personal experience with the life-saving gift of medical technology, provide me with a unique approach and understanding to birth. In my mind, the best birth for you is the one in which you feel you've made informed choices that you feel good about — and no two birth stories are (or should be) the same. My experiences as a doula (trained by The Simkin Center at Bastyr University in April 2012 and certified by DONA International in June 2015) have taught me that birth is powerful, slightly unpredictable and always impressive. I love what I do, and I'm honored each time I'm asked to be part of a delivery team. Aside from being a doula, I'm a mom of three, a parent volunteer, a wife to a great guy, a breastfeeding advocate and cheerleader, and a big believer in reproductive rights and technology.
