Before I became a doula, I did research in eye and mammary gland genetics as an evolutionary biologist! My interest in birth work started with a desire to learn more about midwifery. As a natural caregiver, I wanted to explore options that allowed me to serve others during transformational periods of their lives. Rather than a drastic change from a career in biology, I decided that doula work would allow me the flexibility to explore the birth world while still sticking to my scientific roots. In 2015, I started Mama Fox Doula! When I'm not doula-ing, I am a microbiologist for the Texas Department of State Health Services. I also volunteer for Giving Austin Labor Support. In my free time, I love to travel, camp, read, watch movies, and go on hikes with my fur baby, Jasper, and my amazing partner, Chuck.
