Megan is a certified labor doula, childbirth educator, and lactation counselor. She is the author of Your Birth Plan: A Guide to Navigating All of Your Choices in Childbirth, as well as several essays about doula support and body size in pregnancy.
Megan has attended over 630 births in NYC hospitals, birth centers, and homes and she has supported over 1500 families prenatally and postpartum. She has taught 1000s of private childbirth classes and assisted clients with every type of preference, intervention, and outcome available. Megan has also mentored more than 100 NYC doulas as they have built their careers and honed their skills.
Beyond her certifications and extensive birth experience, Megan has experience working as a rape crisis and domestic violence advocate in hospitals and police stations and brings this background in nonjudgemental advocacy to her birth work. Megan also has a PhD from Binghamton University (SUNY) and uses her academic background to provide you with the most up-to-date evidence based information about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and lactation.
Megan always aims to provide the highest quality, respectful, compassionate support for pregnant people and their families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, chest/breastfeeding, and the challenges of early infancy.
Megan lives in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn with her husband, Shawn, and their teenage son Clay. Her son August is currently in college. When not working, Megan likes to travel, ride her bike, bake bundt cakes, and grow irises and strawberries in her community garden.
