Sage is originally from Humboldt County, CA, and currently lives in Portland, OR. She has worked in various sexual health–related fields as an educator, researcher, doula, and advocate. Sage has worked as a birth and postpartum doula for over 25 families since 2017. Sage graduated from Brown University, where she wrote her honors thesis on midwifery care in Rhode Island and its implications for low-income communities and communities of color. Additionally, Sage has served on the low-intervention birth work group at Women and Infants Hospital in Rhode Island and helped implement the hopsital's Reducing Primary Cesarean Project. Sage also helped create and implement curriculum for medical residents on trans* health care at Women and Infants Hospital. She is currently pursuing a doctorate of nursing practice in midwifery at Oregon Health & Science University.
