So this review is for ABQ Doulas in general. I contracted with them, got a brief phone call, like two or three texts and two very brief meetings where I didn’t get the Tens unit that was part of the contract. There was zero care or support provided. I had a scheduled induction, and the only support I received from this company was a single “good luck” text message. I wanted a doula after a very traumatic C-section at 31+5. I wanted a doula to just hold my hand and be a positive support. But she never showed up, when I had called once in the middle of the night when the doctor wanted to place a cook catheter, which took three attempts and not pleasant at all, could have really used an advocate by the third attempt. And didn’t show when I called saying they were going to force a C-section in two hours. Those two hours my doula hadn’t even left the house yet. And after the surgery, after making jokes about the C-section, which she knew was traumatic for me, she sat with me for all of 15 minutes in recovery, on her phone the entire time, said nothing but “hi” to me, before leaving to “go see another client!” When the contract I signed said they’d be there for two hours post birth. ABQ Doulas then fought to keep $1300 because that “good luck” text apparently was considered appropriate birth support. They swindle money from people, and then delete any negative view, because I have come to learn throw talking to other mothers, that I am far from alone, they’re just really good at silencing women who they’ve wronged.
