I started my career working with new moms and babies almost twenty years ago through Natural Resources’ doula training program. As a newly DONA certified doula, I worked with San Francisco moms and babies as a volunteer doula at San Francisco General Hospital, Kaiser Medical Center and St Elizabeth’s home for pregnant teens. Even before I had children of my own, this experience helped me to realize how the relationship between parents and their newborns is something I am honored to witness and support.

I went on to become a California Board Registered Nurse in 2007 and worked as a pediatric advice nurse at Noe Valley Pediatrics for several years. I answered hundreds of calls each week guiding new parents through the unexpected ups and downs of parenting. I loved the excitement of picking up the phone not knowing what kind of question would be waiting on the line…...green baby poop (no worries,) croup (step outside into the cool night air) and even a gopher bite at the beach (go to the ER!) This is where I first began learning how to really listen to parents’ questions and concerns, and how to best support them in becoming the best parents they could be…. because I truly believe this is what each one of us really wants.

I loved breastfeeding my babies, I didn’t know what I was doing but in a time before information overload I think this helped... I was blissfully ignorant. Since I didn’t have anymore babies to breastfeed, I spent a year and a half studying lactation through the University of California, San Diego. I became a Lactation Educator Counselor and then a Lactation Consultant, passing the board exam to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC.) I completed my 300 clinical hours shadowing three incredible mentors; in private practice, both inpatient and outpatient at Kaiser SF and also Zuckerberg SF General Hospital, San Francisco’s ‘safety-net’ hospital where 95% of our population is on public Medi-Cal insurance. Here, I have remained working as a Lactation Consultant and postpartum RN since completing the lactation program in 2017. I support moms with both well and NICU babies from all over the Bay Area and worldwide.
