Bio

Laurie is an expert in the field of lactation and obstetrical nursing has been working in the Baltimore area since 1990. She is one of the two premier partners of Chesapeake Lactation Services in Harford County Maryland. For the past 12 years she has worked as a nurse lactation consultant at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Harford County developing and growing the lactation department and was instrumental in the development of the State of Maryland WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program. In 1986 Laurie graduated with a Baccalaureate degree of science in nursing from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia PA. and obtained her International Board Certification as a Lactation Consultant in 1995. Laurie’s past nursing experiences include newborn nursery, neonatal intensive care nursery, high risk antenatal care and post partum nursing.

Laurie was published in the Human Journal of Lactation in May of 2001 and voted Nurse of the year at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in 2007. Shortly after winning nurse of the year Laurie was featured in an amazing article “Small World, Huge Inspirations” in Advance for Nurses, revealing her dedication and passion in providing care to her patients. She is a member of both the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition and the International Lactation Consultants Association. Laurie is married with one child that she breastfeed for over a year and enjoys exercising and volunteering for her sons school activities.
