Bio

Natalie Ward is the owner and founder of The Milky Mermaid, a full-service lactation private practice with the mission of providing support, education, and advocacy to breastfeeding families. A UNCW graduate and certified as an IBCLC by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners in 2018, she is thrilled to be back in the Port City serving the Wilmington area (including Wrightsville Beach, Ogden, Hampstead, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Leland, Wrightsboro, and Castle Hayne).

Natalie enjoys serving her local community as an active volunteer providing peer-to-peer breastfeeding information and support. Through a grass-roots approach in multiple roles - one as a WIC Peer Counselor at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, she educates postpartum mothers and provides anticipatory guidance for expectations after hospital discharge. Natalie is also a Certified Counselor for the Breastfeeding USA Organization’s Wilmington Chapter, a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide evidence-based breastfeeding information to support and promote breastfeeding as the biological and cultural norm.

The Milky Mermaid LLC strives to be a one-stop shop for all nursing essentials, offering access to an array of tools parents may need. Our purpose is to empower and support all families to ensure the best possible breastfeeding experience.
