Nursing Your Needs with TLC was born in December 2011 by Sarah Long. I am originally from the United Kingdom and have been living in Carmel, IN for almost 4 years following relocation with her family.

Sarah has 3 children Louie (14), Angelina(9) and Ivy (7), all of whom were exclusively breastfed for 1 year.

My passion for Breastfeeding came from my education and registration as a Midwife in the UK. I obtained my BSCI in Midwifery in 1997 and was included on the Register for the nursing and midwifery council of the UK.

My practice as a midwife included prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum care in both the hospital and community setting. I have had the honor of attending well over 150 births and gained 12 years of experience in all areas of midwifery. My particular focus was on helping and supporting the Breastfeeding Dyad in the postpartum period through education and support.

My own breastfeeding experiences rendered me dedicated to promoting a breastfeeding culture with a complete desire to help others in their breastfeeding journey. I believe that all babies deserve the best possible start in life and the gift of mother’s milk.

Following extensive training and study, I obtained the highest award bestowed in the lactation field as an IBCLC Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I’ve always felt there was a need to reach out to the community and promote breastfeeding and since discovered a need to offer mothers and babies professional support and help in the postpartum period. The postpartum period is a critical time, often overlooked by the medical setting, when mothers and babies are home and often struggling and in need of professional support and guidance.

I am dedicated to serving mothers and babies in the central Indiana area in my private practice as an IBCLC.
