Bio

Susan fell in love with the nursing relationship with the birth of her daughter in 1991. In working through her own breastfeeding challenges, she was helped in the early days by the first IBCLC in Utah and later by a longtime La Leche Leader. Understanding the importance of mother-to-mother support and of mentoring, she accredited as a Leche Leche League Leader in 1993 and board certified as an IBCLC in 1999.

Susan has served on the Board of Directors for the International Affiliation of Tongue Tie Professionals (IATP) and currently coordinates the Legislative Task Force for the Utah Breastfeeding Coalition. Susan earned her MFA in Poetry from Columbia University and still carries a torch for the city of New York.

Personal passions include gardening, knitting, and the politics of language.
