Joan has been practicing physical therapy since 2001, and recently earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Montana. Her clinical practice has been primarily in outpatient orthopedics with a focus on ergonomics, repetitive use injuries, and manual treatment of spinal injuries, hip, and pelvic girdle pain. Joan encourages patients to participate in their own recoveries through independence and education. She has served as a Clinical Instructor since 2002, working with dozens of physical therapy students. Joan received her Certificate of Achievement in Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy (CAPP-OB) from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Section on Women's Health in 2014, and served a 3-year appointment on the CAPP-OB committee. During this appointment, she was a lab instructor and lecturer for continuing education courses and participated in writing and editing of course materials. In her free time, Joan enjoys swing dancing, spending time outdoors with her family, and playing with her two labs at the dog park.
