Welcoming Chapter Goods to Motherfigure

And so I’m thrilled to announce today that Chapter Goods is joining Motherfigure. We saw an opportunity to combine forces, celebrate Haylie’s incredible vision, and expand Motherfigure’s offering into ready-to-wear, which we’ll grow and evolve over time.

When I gave birth to my son Henry, I found myself with a new role — mother — that ended up reshaping my identity. The changes I experienced were profound, and beautiful, but I nevertheless mourned some losses to “the old me.” Some changes felt deep, like my sense of autonomy; others were superficial, like the tradeoffs I found myself making in what I wore, or felt I had to wear, to accommodate the everyday acts of young motherhood, like breastfeeding and pumping.

This experience culminated in my founding of Motherfigure, and along the way, I encountered like-minded entrepreneurs and brands. One of my favorites from the very beginning was Chapter Goods, a feeding-friendly apparel line conceived of in Austin, TX, by the brilliant Haylie Schwartz, who had gone on a similar journey with her son Boze, and likewise found the goods on the market wanting. As she so wisely put it — lots of complicated things happen after you have a baby. Getting dressed shouldn’t be one of them.

Haylie and I came to our ideas independently, but very much in sync. We each started our companies out of a desire to come to the aid of moms in this transformative stage of life. Our firm belief is that we can do a better job of supporting mamas in general, including by recognizing that the clothes we wear should suit our bodies and our needs.

And so I’m thrilled to announce today that Chapter Goods is joining Motherfigure. We saw an opportunity to combine forces, celebrate Haylie’s incredible vision, and expand Motherfigure’s offering into ready-to-wear, which we’ll grow and evolve over time.
