What is Acetyl Glucosamine?
Amino acid sugar and primary constituent of mucopolysaccharides and hyaluronic acid.
What are other names for Acetyl Glucosamine?
2-ACETAMIDO-2-DEOXY-D-GLUCOSE; N-ACETYLGLUCOSAMINE, ACETAMIDO-2-DEOXY- ALPHA-D- GLUCOPYRANOSE, ACETAMIDO-2-DEOXYGLUCOSE, ACETYL GLUCOSAMINE, ALPHA-D- GLUCOPYRANOSE, ACETAMIDO-2-DEOXY-, D-GLUCOSE,2-(ACETYLAMINO)-2-DEOXY-, DGLUCOSE, 2(ACETYLAMINO)2DEOXY, GLUCOPYRANOSE, ACETAMIDO-2-DEOXY-, ALPHA-D-, N-ACETYL-A -D-GLUCOSAMINE, N-ACETYL-BETA-D-GLUCOSAMINE, and N-ACETYL-D-GLUCOSAMINE
What is Acetyl Glucosamine used for?
N-acetyl glucosamine is a derivative of Glucosamine and an amino-monosaccharide and is present in all human tissue. Glucosamine is produced in the body by the addition of an amino group to glucose, which can then be acetylated to produce N-acetyl glucosamine. Glucosamine and N-acetyl glucosamine have key biochemical functions within the body which may reflect their benefit to the treatment of various disease processes in humans1.
