What is Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil used for?
Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil has been shown to offer a number of beneficial effects to our skin including: Anti-aging benefits and improved skin elasticity Topical application of argan oil has been shown to have anti-aging effects on the skin and this was demonstrated by the improvement of skin elasticity3. Antioxidant and skin protection Argan oil is rich in tocopherols2, natural skin anti-oxidants. These are strong anti-oxidants which could serve to protect the skin against UV radiation-induced free radical attack. Moisturising and skin hydration Daily consumption and application of argan oil have been shown to have improved the skin hydration by restoring the barrier function and maintaining the water-holding capacity4. It prevents water loss through the skin. Anti-inflammatory Argan oil has been shown to offer anti-inflammatory activity for the skin. Anti-viral activity Argan oil is rich in terpenoids and research evidence suggests that Argan oil can be considered as a lead compound for new antivirals5. Insect repellant A further study suggested that the presence of camphor and 1,8-cineole in argan fruit essential oil means that it could be used locally as an insect repellent6.
