The Basics On Ascorbyl Palmitate
What is Ascorbyl Palmitate?
An ester formed from ascorbic acid and palmitic acid creating a fat-soluble form of vitamin C.
What are other names for Ascorbyl Palmitate?
6-HEXADECANOATE L-ASCORBIC ACID, 6-O-PALMITOYLASCORBIC ACID, ASCORBIC ACID PALMITATE, ASCORBIC PALMITATE, ASCORBYL 6-PALMITATE, ASCORBYL PALMITATE, ASCORBYL PALMITATE (VITAMIN C PALMITATE), ASCORBYLAPALMITIC ACID, L-ASCORBIC ACID, 6-HEXADECANOATE, LASCORBIC ACID, 6HEXADECANOATE, and PALMITOYL L-ASCORBIC ACID
What is Ascorbyl Palmitate used for?
Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP) provides the same skincare benefits as Vitamin C. Upon topical application, it has been observed that SAP is converted to Vitamin C by chemicals within the skin. This includes a wide range of skincare applications, from anti-aging, pigmentation reduction, antioxidative photodamage repair, protection from free radicals and synthesis and stabilization of skin collagen and elastin. Maximal concentration for optimal percutaneous absorption was 20%.6
