What we know about using Oxybenzone while pregnant or breastfeeding
One study shows pregnant women in their first trimester who apply sunscreen containing 6 percent oxybenzone twice a day (the recommended usage) can absorb the chemical into their bloodstream. Also linked to the formation of birth defects during the first trimester of pregnancy – specifically Hirschsprung’s Disease.
Benzophenone-3 had minimal effects on fertility in the F1 generation but F2 pup weights were significantly reduced. Probably due to systemic toxicity; Oxybenzone increased uterine weight in immature rats.
